TE/EA Paragraph & Ch. 11

3/19/2018

Chapter 10 of Things Fall Apart shows us a formal “trial” in Umuofia. Achebe purposefully included this chapter to help show a truer picture of Africa & African people.

Write a TE/EA paragraph that addresses the question: How do the events of Chapter 10 help Achebe achieve some of his goals for the novel?

See a list of goals below, or choose your own:
  • Destroy stereotypes about Africa/Africans
  • Accurately tell the African story
  • Respect Igbo people as complex people with traditions

In addition please read or begin Reading Ch. 11 for homework! It is a longer chapter and we will not be reading it in class. You may continue to add to your theme trackers and/or complete a reading journal.

***NOTE: The trip to go see "Black Panther" this week is based on a first come, first serve basis as well as your standing in my class. Please bring me your permission slips ASAP!
