MIDWINTER BREAK HW

2/15/2018

Because of the issues with getting access to the computer lab and other time constraints, you should finish the GoogleSlides portion of your research projects over the break. If you are having an issue contacting your partner, please reach out to me via REMIND or leave a comment on this post. When we return, you will work in-class on your posters. Presentations are due TUESDAY 2/27/18.

More info on the project below:
In addition, you may also complete an *optional* extra credit assignment for Black History Month. If you'd like to complete the assignment, send me a message on REMIND and I will assign you a person to research. A description of the assignment can be found below:

Black History Month Extra Credit assignment: Black LGBTQ+ People
Black History Month is a time to celebrate the ways in which Black Americans (who have historically been erased from the dominant narrative of our country) have enhanced and empowered themselves and their people. However, even within that framework of promoting marginalized voices, there are huge swaths of Black Americans who are sadly missing from the picture. Black LGBTQ+ people suffer an additional level of oppression due to their identities, and BHM lacks the stories and voices of the Black LGBTQ+ community.

Your assignment is to do a short, biographical project on a Black LGBTQ+ person and add their names and accomplishments to your knowledge of Black History! You will be assigned a person, and your task is to complete the following:
  • Create a short biography that includes:
    • Name of person
    • Birthplace and date of person
    • Why the person is famous
    • Three interesting facts about the person
    • A picture (printed or illustrated) of the person
  • A journal that includes:
    • At least three journal entries based on important moments from your figure's life.
    • Should be written from THEIR perspective; write as if you are the person you are researching.

HAVE A GREAT BREAK!!!
