Over the weekend, be sure to pick which essay you want to complete for your Mastery work! We will begin working on the essay in-class next week. Also…maybe a vocab quiz on Monday! Check out the vocabulary words and a copy of the Mastery Work below.

​Vocabulary Words
  • Cunning- skill in deception; guile
  • Forgery- the act of forging; illegally producing something counterfeit
  • Categorical- unambiguously explicit and direct
  • Infanticide- killing an infant
  • Stupefied- to be made unable to think or feel properly
  • Unaccountable- free from accountability; not responsible
  • Countenance- a person's face or facial expression
  • Hullabaloo- a loud confused noise of protest; commotion
  • Pensioner- a person who is receiving a pension, usually an old-age pension from the state
  • Sentinel- to watch over as a guard/to provide with a guard
  • Machination- the act of plotting; a crafty plan for the accomplishment of a sinister goal
  • Beatific- bestowing bliss, blessings, happiness, etc.
  • Capitulate- cease to resis and opponent; surrender
  • Mangel- a vegetable with a large root, cultivated as feed for livestock
  • Chaff- straw cut up for animal food
