You final drafts of Mastery Work #1 are due MONDAY 3/27/17!!!!!

Please see the information below for assistance with your Mastery Work. Also, check previous homework posts for more details. REMEMBER, there are THREE parts to your Mastery work! On Monday you must have all three components typed, printed and ready for submission:
  • Analytical paragraph for Brutus' soliloquy
  • Analytical paragraph for Cassius' speech to Brutus
  • Synthesis paper comparing/contrasting Brutus' and Mark Antony's speeches at Caesar's funeral.

Sentence stems for the two analytical paragraphs, a copy of the Mastery work and copies of the speeches can all be found below. In addition, check previous posts for more info on how to write the synthesis paper.

First draft of Mastery Work #1 (Rhetorical Analysis) due MONDAY 3/20/17 !!!!

Use the graphic organizers we have worked on in class to complete your 5 paragraph essay. Below is the outline for your essay as well as sample paragraphs and a copy of the mastery work handouts. If you need any assistance over the weekend

Intro
  • Hook
  • Background info (about the play/scene, about rhetoric, etc)
  • Thesis
TE/EA Body Paragraphs (x3)
  • Topic sentence: State how pathos/logos/ethos was used more effectively
  • Ev/Ex: Use your organizer! What is the text SAYING?
  • Analysis: What makes one stronger and the other weaker? Think about what the text is DOING.
Conclusion
  • Restate your thesis
  • Recap your main points (TS)
  • Leave the reader with a final impression
