Vladimir Lenin & the Bolshevik Party
  • Vladimir Lenin was a communist and a Marxist who founded and lead the Bolshevik party (a political party)
  • The Bolsheviks were responsible for the assasination of the Czar Nicholas Romanov II and his family during the February Revolution.
  • The Bolsheviks took over the Russian government. After taking over, they issued several communist decrees (on work, education, agriculture, etc).
  • Lenin served as the leader of the USSR/Russia from 1917-1924.
Stalin & Trotsky
  • Stalin was a dictator of the USSR after Lenin's death from 1929-1953.
  • He modernized, industrialized and militarized Russia.
  • Trotsky was a communist who worked with Lenin and was primarily concerned with revolution.
  • Stalin and Trotsky were close friends (at first), but political and idealogical differences caused them to fall apart.
  • Trotsky wanted to continue the revolution and criticized Stalin. Stalin was a mass-murderer and a harsh dictator.
  • Stalin exiled Trotsky from the USSR (kicked him out) and ordered his assassination.
