12/16/2016

This weekend you must FINISH any research completely. Everyone should come to class Monday prepared with their thesis statement. No one should be in Station X!!!

Steps to Creating a Thesis Statement
1. Name your topic:
    –EXAMPLE: Cloning
2. Come up with a debatable question:
–EXAMPLE: Is there any benefit to cloning technology?
3. Revise the question into a claim statement based on your research.
–EXAMPLE: There is benefit to using cloning technology.
4. Add reasoning to your claim:
–EXAMPLE: We can use cloning technology to avoid genetic disease and radically change organ transplantation for the better.
5. Consider opposing evidence:
–EXAMPLE: Some people are against cloning because it allows humans to “play god” and can potentially lead to confusing ethical situations.

SAMPLE THESES
•Although many feel that cloning technology will lead to confusing ethical scenarios, human beings can use cloning technology in a positive and beneficial way.
•Although many feel that cloning technology will lead to confusing ethical scenarios, human beings can use cloning technology to avoid genetic disease, create perfect donor organs, and advance the study of cell culture.

POETRY OUT LOUD
In addition, you need to have your entire poem for Poetry Out Loud memorized for Monday 12/19. You will be doing your poetry recitation for a small group of your peers. Be sure to:
